Quick Tip: Save Your Leftovers and Your Sanity!
When I was a kid I remember rummaging through my mom’s drawer to find Tupperware lids. I could usually find the right one by the third or fourth try but then I’d have to get everything put back neatly in the drawer. I thought, “There must be a better way!” Alas, there is indeed a better way.
Store your leftover containers with the lids on. You’ll find that if all the lids are already attached to their containers you need not rummage. You will also find that you need about a third of the containers you currently have. Less containers = an even easier time finding the one you need!
I also highly recommend Pyrex glass containers. We registered for a set of these for our wedding 8 years ago and they are still going strong. Tomato soup won’t stain them, they don’t change shape in the microwave, you can use them as a serving dish, and you can easily see what is inside so that you avoid unwanted refrigerator mysteries. The lids are plastic and they will wear out eventually but you can easily order replacement lids on Amazon. I do like to keep a few cheap plastic containers for giving meals to others or for sharing leftovers. Ah, the freedom of the words, “I don’t need the container back.”
